Why this work is important to me
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and am proud owner of the Center for Families in Transition and independent contractor providing therapy at the Institute for Couple and Family Enhancement in San Antonio. I graduated with my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University and I earned my undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Spanish from Texas Tech University.
I began in the mental health field as a school counselor, and after several years of working in schools, I transitioned to a private practice setting. This transition has allowed me to deepen my therapeutic work with clients and get in touch with my professional passion: helping families navigate the divorce process and creating healthy co-parenting relationships for children.
I have personally and professionally witnessed the pain and suffering that combative divorces can cause. In my nearly decade of work with families, I have learned that not only is navigating divorce peacefully possible, it is essential in creating a foundation for a thriving family after a divorce has ended. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic and skills-based approaches to offer the right support for each family.
In 2024, I established the Center for Families in Transition (CFIT) with my business partner, Dr. Becky Davenport. CFIT provides tailored services that support families navigating the complexities of divorce. Our mission is to empower parents and couples as they transition into a two-home family. Dr. Davenport and I created CFIT because we recognized that families navigating the divorce process have unique needs and challenges. We aspire to provide supportive, systemic services that center families’ interests and provide them with tools to grow into their new dynamic with integrity before, during, and after divorce.
Although the majority of my practice is with families who are transitioning through divorce, I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients experiencing a range of challenges including: anxiety, relational conflict, low self-esteem, adjustment to changing life circumstances, loss of a long-term relationship, or clients experiencing high levels of stress.
I have been in a relationship with my husband since 2010, we have been married since 2016, and we have two children who bring more meaning to our lives than we ever thought possible. When I am not spending time with my family, I enjoy reading, walking, and yoga.
